1. The Long-Haul Makeover
This garage makeover took a bit longer than the others on this list, but the end results are certainly worth it. The homeowner made every effort to refresh this space, including painting the walls using a spray painter and creating their own checkered floor pattern with garage floor tiles.
They didn’t skimp on storage either, and chose to install sleek, black lockers, a couple of sturdy garage standing racks and ones on the ceiling in front of the open garage door, too. For all their tools, they choose to use the popular and customizable option of a pegboard.
Clearly, they’ve proven that you can get a makeover that looks professional-grade if you have the right tools and the dedication.

This homeowner made sure to focus on form and function when fixing up their garage and end up with usable storage that fits all their needs. At the end of the day, isn’t that what every homeowner faced down a cluttered garage wants?
They went with the more custom approach and built their own floating shelves to keep the floor free from clutter, wanting to make it easier to clean the floor. Looking at the “after” picture, they certainly achieved their goal.
While this homeowner chose to build all the parts of their all-wood floating shelves themselves, you can also get install long shelf boards on sturdy steel brackets. That will make it much easier for you to replicate these results in your own garage without the equivalent woodworking skills required.
3. The Bright & Bold Makeover
This family spent a lot of effort on the front-end of the garage makeover: the clean-out process. They managed to pare down the junk they’d accumulated over the years by quite a bit, so when it came time to organize what was left, they had a lot more space to use in their newly clean garage.
Once there garage was clean, they wanted to add a pop of color to brighten up the space and make it uniquely there, which is something all homeowners should try to do with their own garages. Then, they decided to go with the Rubbermaid FastTrack system to easily choose the height and number of floating shelves on their walls.

This garage makeover went from absolute mayhem to nice and neat, and the homeowners were finally able to achieve their garage organization goals. As you can see in the before picture, they’d repeatedly tried to put a strong organization system in place, but things didn’t stick.
That goes to show that having all the “right” tools won’t make your organization plan work if it doesn’t fit your habits and needs. Despite the overhead racks, various shelves, and storage bings, the options they’d chosen previously just weren’t working for them.
Finally, this makeover was able to help them properly store and arrange their things in a way that worked for their family. They chose to include a row of tall, white garage cabinets, that allowed for storage that got their clutter off the floor without putting what they use often out of reach.

Check out exactly how they go their finished floor to turn out so well if you want to try replicating it in your garage.
6. The “Everything In Its Place” Makeover
While this garage makeover didn’t require hauling out a ton of junk, the family did need to do something to keep all their cleaning and garden supplies in order.
After buying some stackable utility shelves to store their bigger belongings and several plastic storage bins, they also mounted some tool organizers on the wall. Now their space is clean and functional and won’t need as much maintenance to keep this organized all the time.
7. The Brilliant Bargain Makeover
This final makeover was done by some creative homeowners, who decided they needed to rework their garage space. They were using it for exercising and woodworking but hadn’t done much with the space. After deciding that they needed to upgrade their garage, they got to work and made a lot happen with a small budget.
They didn’t go for any of the traditional options for storage. Instead, they found someone online who was getting rid of their old kitchen cabinetry during a remodel and go the whole set for free. After painting them all a glossy black, they hung the cabinets.
The homeowners decided to also coat the floor with epoxy and decorative paint chips, repaint the walls with discounted paint that someone else returned to the local big box hardware store, and added and stained a wood countertop for the cabinets. Incredibly, the total price for their project was only $166.
